As Congress negotiates the next COVID relief package, Cindy Ray, Executive Director of PAHSA joined nine other faith-based association leaders to sign onto a LeadingAge letter advocating for lawmakers to deliver life-saving COVID relief for vulnerable older adults and their caregivers. The letter outlines the crucial resources needed for all providers and staff who care for older adults, based on LeadingAge’s Five Essential Actions. “We are aligned in our ardent belief that the actions you as leaders of our country take in the next weeks will determine the life and death of many of our nation's most vulnerable older adults. This is an historic moment. It must be met with historic action. Older adults deserve nothing less.” Read the full letter. Collectively our 10 organizations represent over 5,000 providers that are based on a range of faiths and denominations, including Catholics, Jews, Lutherans, Methodists, Mennonites, United Church of Christ and Church of the Brethren, Presbyterian, and Quakers. Many of PAHSA’s members have stepped up without federal assistance to acquire PPE and offer pandemic hero pay, paid sick leave, and health care coverage for their employees. Even so, we recognize that COVID-19 will be with us for the foreseeable future. We're proud to join this effort to drive much-needed change in Washington DC during this critical time.
