Presbyterian Homes of Georgia (PHGA) Board of Trustees has announced the retirement of Frank McElroy as President and CEO, effective January 31, 2020. Frank has served with PHGA for over 48 years. Under his leadership, the organization has grown from one skilled nursing care center in Quitman, Georgia, to an organization of five diverse communities providing senior housing and services in caring, Christian environments. In a letter announcing his plans, Frank wrote,"I have been blessed to serve with thousands of loving staff in caring for more than 17,000 residents in five locations in Georgia. Hundreds of brilliant and committed Trustees have provided the leadership and direction of this ministry as it has grown both in size and service." Frank also announced his intention to continue after retirement to serve in a fundraising capacity to assist with the successful conclusion of PHGA's capital campaign. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Dr. W. Glenn Doak, Jr, Chair, wrote in a letter to friends of PHGA, "I want to publicly thank Dr. McElroy for his outstanding leadership. He has worked well with a myriad of people over the years and kept the organization abreast of constatn changes in the health care field for senior adults. Franks attention to detail and humble Christian spirit has buided this ministry and positioned us well for the future." The Board of Trustees has formed a Succession Committee to begin a search for the next CEO. The committee is receiving consulting support from Mauldin & Jenkins, based in Atlanta, GA. Frank has been a longstanding and valuable representative of PHGA in PAHSA He served from 1983-1985 as the first board chair of the united PAHA, made up of the two predecessor organizations; PAHA-UPCUSA and PAHA-PCUS.
