Congratulations to Steve Proctor, retired CEO of Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL), who has been inducted into the Continuing Care Hall of Fame. In a ceremony was held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, during the LeadingAge Annual Meeting in Chicago, Ill., Steve was one of four inductees this year who collectively represent more than 175 years of service to older adults in senior living. As reported in McKnight’s Senior Living, 2023 marks the fifth ceremony for the honors, which are bestowed every other year by A.V. & Associates LLC as a way to honor individuals and organizations for their contributions to the development of continuing care retirement communities (also known as life plan communities) and continuing care at home programs. Steve is a past board chair and was active in PAHSA throughout his term as CEO. He was granted Lifetime Membership in the association by the board in 2019 to recognize his leadership and continuing support of PAHSA. Steve began his time with PSL in 1971 as a registered nurse at the organization’s first nursing facility. Over the years, he also was an executive director and COO. Under his leadership, the organization grew to 3,000 staff members, serving more than 6,000 people in 32 locations, with a full mix of housing and service options for older adults of all income levels, including 12 life plan communities. Steve joins past PAHSA leaders inducted into the Continuing Care Hall of Fame: 2021 – Mary Alice Ryan, CEO, St. Andrew’s Senior Resources System (retired) 2019 – James Ellison, CEO (retired), Westminster Communities of Florida
